In-field packing successfully implemented
In-field packing was successfully implemented in 2018. This resulted in the time from vine to cold storage being reduced by up to 50%.
Renewable energy installed
Namibia is an excellent location for solar and Silverlands Vineyards have implemented a 210 kW solar power unit to supplement grid power on the farm, as well as reduce the dependence on fossil-fuel-generated electricity. This has an estimated annual return on investment of 7 to 10% at current electricity prices, but this will rise as an arrangement has just been made to provide unutilised solar power back into the Namibian power grid.

A creche for children of the employees continues successfully
A creche was constructed to provide care for the children of Silverlands’ employees as infrastructure in the nearby town is limited. The facility additionally has a feeding room.
